Came across this question .... which has probably been asked so many times through the history of the modern times in so many forms .... but I really don't have an answer. I had one at varying points in my life, but I don't anymore.

How do you want to be remembered?

Any pointers?

I wish to be remembered as someone who can bring a hearty smile... specially when u r left lonely.

What about you SPA? I am curious to know that... :)

How does it matter - Much better to know your worth and what you mean to people you have touched in some way or the other, when you are alive and kicking, no? If you answer that, the remembrance should take care of itself.

I guess the question is also ... how would you want to remember yourself? What constitutes a full life?

Let the stains remind you,
You thought you made a man,
You better think again,
Before my role defines you"- Audioslave

Cryptic ... I guess I wasn't discounting the influences of others, but was asking what constitutes a full life ... guess a combination of sattva and rajas driven actions with minimal tamasic tendencies ...

the verse from Audioslave is nice though. Thanks Ranjana

would replacing the word "afterbirth" with "afterlife" make a difference to your interpretation...I wasn't pointing at external influences

Yes, I see it now ... guess the question still stands... if one is going to face judgement (as suggested by Audioslave), then the judgement would probably be along similar lines :)

"If you plunder from west to east you are great like Alexander. If you do the same from east to west you are a barbarian like Chengiz"

Raavan is the villain who kidnapped Goddess Sita in India while in SriLanka, he is worshipped and babies named after him

So don't know if the theory on lesser tamasic tendencies affect how people perceive you.

But on a personal note, giving your 100% in every role you undertake might give me some satisfaction in my death bed...Being the good daughter/sister, the good friend, a nurturing mother, the concerned citizen, being ethical when it comes to money-making. That should do it for me!!!

too much gyaan, i guess, couldnt resist :)

Some Insights on this from Theosophical books "Dreams" and "Life After Death":
The author Leadbeater says that the image/ opinion that people carry about you can help you communicate from the Astral and Devachanic planes.
Lets say someone is being trained about relationships, and the understanding would be incomplete without knowing motherhood. The soul may communicate to the physical world through the image/reputation that he has created during his physical life and get the relevant information and experience.
The catch point is, if the soul has a bad reputation or false image(good or bad)then the communication fails. It is like dialing a wrong number.

Upto the individuals to believe the contents of these books. Its mystical and so out of the physical senses and too abstract to understand this. Yet I want to believe that this can be a good motivation to live a wholesome life.
