Something worth pondering over
I am having an interesting conversation with a spiritually wise friend about life and he begins to talk about a holy place about 200 KM from here. I have always been a little sceptical about the importance of places - I believe in Intelligent Design and God, and therefore do buy into the omnipresence of God, so everytime I am faced with another mention of a "Holy Place" I meet with some dissonance. I tackle the question straight on ...
"Look- why is it that some places are 'holier/better' than others? After all, if there is divinity, it must be omnipresent. I cannot imagine God favouring one place over another"
I believe my argument is compelling, and I am sure of it until I hear a spontaneous answer to my question.
"Aha - then in that case, why are some people 'holier/better' than others when they are all the result of the same creative force".
It takes a moment, but I know I have encountered an epiphany. The answer strikes home - it was indeed cleverer than it was meant to be.

Reminds me of Akbar and Birbal stories. Birbal always successfully outwitted his emperor. Something of a similar sort happened to you too.
Hmm... food for thought indeed.
So are you planning to go to this place?
Hi GB,
Yes, am planning a visit there. The place is very famous - you may have heard of it - the Arunachala peak at Thiruvannamalai.
We passed by this town on our way to Pondicherry. The place is full of phirang tourists as well...so don't be surprised to see them everywhere. I've heard similar things about the peak..even my agnostic cousin admitted that he felt ..rather "uneasy" for the lack of a better word, in those hills. So do go and come back and tell us all about it.
