Sentinels of the woods (all puns intended)

It seems that you cannot say anything in this country about Bollywood without drawing ire ... people are so quick to defend it that they don't even see the blatant (and deliberate) exaggerations in my post (c.f. my comment about a billion idiots) . Whatever happened to reading literature and seeing blantant exaggerations for what they are ... a literary tool, and laughing at it!

I'm not a journalist.... I'm a blogger, for heaven's sake!

My reluctance to worship Bollywood deities like you anonymous commentors somehow seems to make me an infidel.

To all those of you who are tirelessly telling me how wrong I am to be saying derogatory things about your favourite wood, good luck to you folks ... there is a world beyond Bollywood, and there is an ocean beyond the well, and there is exaggeration as a literary tool, and there are bloggers beyond journalists... and there is thinking beyond Karan Johar and SRK .... and there are literary devices beyond those seen in Filmfare!

I hope those of you reading the lines below know where they are from ... if you are familiar with other Indian deities beyond those gyrating in your multiplex, you might just recognize the name.

" ...Into that heaven of freedom, my father,

Let my country awake" - Tagore

:)

cheers,
to each, his own ...I say. I hope your favourite movie star delivers another blockbuster hit so you can sleep in peace.

Whoever may say whatever they want... you continue to write. its your blog. dont be deterred.. I will be disappointed otherwise... I just love your sarcasm and your guts...

I despise most of those people who "make" Bollywood and generally, most of those chicken brained jerks in the world of glamour and glitter...

But I love Bollywood music... especially the old ones...

Will...

Write some more sarcastic stuff... like the one on drinking.. "no firewood will be required to burn them... their blood will contain so much alcohol :) ha ha ha ....

Why this obsession with Bollywood??

'world beyond bollywood' - why do you assume people who watch bollywood films do not watch or appreciate hollywood or world cinema?

do you think Bollywood comprises of only Karan Johar films, SRK and Preity Zinta? There are great actors like naseeruddin shah, shabana, nandita das, and many many more.

Does the hindi film industry, as it should be rightly called, not have creativity, sensitivity, originality, humor- all of those things are keepsakes of the West?

Also, not all of the VAST Indian population is composed of literateurs and intellectuals...and not all Non-Bollywood cinema is intellectual or uses literary 'tools', as you put it.

Lastly, cinema is about entertainment and all "Intellectual" cinema is not always entertaining.

did i get your goat or what!!!

anyway, a few clarifications ...
1. I'm not a Hollywood worshipper either... theres the same % of crap films made in Hollywood and theres an inanity in the following there as well ... so stop throwing me over the fence or making silly assumptions that don't stand up

2. Lastly, not all cinema needs to be intellectual ... but it can still be quality work ... watch "Shivaji ... the Boss", or "Kabhi Haa, Kabhi Naa" you'll know what I mean.

Somehow people still miss the point ... made earlier ... most Bollywood actors who venture out to do other things seem to expect automatic success based on no fundamental skills... look at the mess SRK makes with KKR as a cricket team ... and if you listen to any of these actors' interviews, you'll know how deluded they are about their own abilities

OK ... enough said... run along now, I've had enough explanations and I don't even know why I bothered in the first place.
